The Maverick Arts Club is the home for the animal characters created by Steve Bicknell, owner of Icarus Arts Publishing Ltd and Maverick Arts Publishing.
The Company was formed in 2004 and its first big success was the 2007 calendar Water Skiing Westies which became an instant hit, with sales all over the world.
Since that great success, other characters have been created, including Willie & Nillie from Guinea Pig Games whose sporty antics have become our best selling calendar. Their popularity led to the creation of a children’s book The World’s Strongest Guinea Pig and a 2011 diary.
Bodgett & Scarper appeared in their first product in 2009 with the Make Over Mutts Calendar, where they were a Doggie Developers team, with not much skill but at least they looked the part! In 2010 they became the Make Over Mechanics aiming their terrier talents to fixing faulty cars. Now in 2011, they’re back but this time they’ve given themselves the Rock ‘n’ Roll names, Marv & Rick to form The Dogs of Rock. For the first time these Jack of all trade Jack Russells feature in a diary and book!
Our family of famous Waterskiing Westies has been honing their waterskiing skills since 2007 but now they are taking some time off, while the pups go through their terrible teens but for all you fans this year you can buy the brand new 2011 diary.
We can’t forget Mrs Moggs that hard-working ‘house-proud’ cat whose calendars have been a huge hit. Now, in 2011, Mrs Moggs’ daughter Miss Moggs is taking the lime light, showing off her kittenish good looks out and about with her best friend.
Now with the world gone Meerkat mad, Maverick is proud to present, it’s new 2011 calendar……..Maverick Meerkats! This action-packed calendar features a mob of meerkats testing their skills at an assortment of sports, from football to skydiving!

All of the animal characters have been trained and photographed by Steve Bicknell & Paul Cocken. It is quite amazing how, with careful training and a lot of love and patience, just what tricks the stars will perform for them. “We must pay grateful thanks to the various owners of our performing pets and we often have help as well from Animal Rescue Societies.”
